I once saw a garden show where the man advised you to put the orchids in the refridgerater to get them to bloom. The problem was, he didn't even tell you how long to keep them there!

That's a good idea for some orchids (cyps, pleiones are ones I've heard of that for) but I don't think it's a good idea for warm loving ones such as Phals I think it would kill them.

It was phals that he was referring to. You would think that it could cause their roots to rot, though.

I really wouldn't like to try it with them. I guess someone's been brave and found it worked, but I'll stick to just letting them cool down when my house cools down naturally.
