Hello Everybody,

Over the past year I have found myself on your site time and again as I struggle with my first orchids ever. I seem to be doing ok and am hoping to see some new spikes in fall.

I have to admit to torturing my first orchid (a Phal) and I hope it forgives me for attempting to drown it, sunburning it, under sunning it, starving it and putting it through a drought the likes of which the Sahara experiences. It has a few shrivelled and veiny and spotted leaves, but has put out 2 new ones, so there is hope!

Welcome to Orchid Board.

Sounds good if your Phal is growing new leaves. We all learn from mistakes so don't worry about getting it wrong at first!

Welcome OrchidObsessed! I found that Phals are the forgiving kind. It's nice to have you with us.

Thanks for the welcome Jenny, CTB, Pink and Rosie! I am learning that Phals are forgiving... thank the lord for that!!! *gets down to pot height and kisses new leaves and roots*

CTB~ The humour can get a bit out there but I hope it gives you a few laughs.

Jenny~ I have a few more Phals... white, magenta (otherwise known as the tortured one), gold with pink heart, white with magenta speckles, yellow with green stripes, teeny tiny pink and yellow and teeny tiny white with pink heart. One Lady Slipper almost black in colour, one deep purple and one with a positive bonanza of tiny yellow flowers with deep maroon hearts on sprays (no idea as to kind as they didn't have labels, both of these smell heavenly), and last but not least something called Exclusive Star which has deep pink flowers.

Welcome, love the humor. I get a bit out there at times as well. Post some pics if anything is blooming and you may get some idea of what you have in your collection.
