I have R. striata, R. brachypus, R. elegans and R. xanthlopoma [bad spelling there I think ]

Thank you for your continual welcomes. You are all a friendly lot! They are indeed easy growers, in my opinion the easiest of all the Pleurothallids. I actually find them easier than Masdevallias.

How do you grow yours?

In my welcome post I stated that I grow them indoors and provide artificial lighting when required. I will add a bit more as to how I grow all of my miniature orchids, including Restrepias.

I grow all of my orchids indoors as already stated in a spare bright room with no direct sunlight. This room is very cool and provides me with the drop in temp that I need to flower these fascinating miniatures.

All of the orchids are grown in glass cases with supplemented lighting if needed especially in the dull winter months of England.

My glass cases are 18x18x18 inches installed with a very powerful small fan. Day temps rarely ever go above 23 Celsius. The bottom of the glass cases are covered in hydroleca up to about 3 inches and filled with water to about 1 inch. The orchids are placed on a mesh wire frame so air can flow underneath the pots. Humidity is always between 70% - 90%. I spray inside of the glass cases morning and early evening. I am also considering adding automatic misters to the cases in the future.

If anyone is interested in setting up something similar then feel free to ask questions and check out the hobby of dart frogs! This is where I got most of my ideas, remember that these dart frogs are kept in some of the most amazing set ups.

I have only 2 res. aristulifera "Marsh Hollow" and brachyfus. I am pleased that the arist. one has a new bloom from when I purchased it last Feb.
I grow them in a cool bay window in winter but will have to put them under lights in the basement for the summer since it is too warm here in Canada then. Where in England do you live? I am originally from Preston Lancs.
