Saying hello -- total newbie here

Hello everyone! I thought I should say hi instead of just lurking on this nice website! I bought my first phalaenopsis early this year, and now suddenly find myself with four, all phals. (Strange how that happens.) I have a bad habit of picking up sorry-looking specimens that are on their last legs. After a few weeks of living in my south-facing sunroom, they perk up and start blooming and shooting off weird tendrils. I think they're happy. I confess I don't know what the parts are called YET, but I will learn. I can't wait to get the advice and information that I know you can all offer me. I'll definitely need help on repotting -- these things are starting to look like green octopi! Thanks in advance for the help.
