Ray's First sent me a postcard about this website with my order. I thought I would drop by and see what you are up to. I have been growing orchids for about 8 years now. I love species cattleyas, not too fond of clones or hybrids, tho I have quite a few that have caught my eye over the years. I do have one oncidium, a huge Sharry Baby, but only because of the smell . . .chocolate. My orchids have come from here, there, and everywhere. Most are from Chadwicks here in Virginia. My catts are all in clay pots with a mix of red lava rock, fir bark and spag. They grow outside in summer, in a very large southern window in winter.

My Mossiaes are blooming now . . .here's a picture.

Hi Cyn, That is a gorgeous orchid! Welcome to OB and be sure to browse and ask any questions you may have. Looks like you are already well informed in growing. I haven't ordered from Chadwicks yet, but I will definitely check them out. Welcome!!!!!!

Hi Cyn...welcome to the neighborhood!

Ray is a great guy, isn't he?

Your mossiae is gorgeous! I also have a fondness for species but have accumulated a number of hybrids and NOIDS...it's unavoidable! They're all so beautiful

Looking forward to hearing more from you and keep those pictures coming

Let us know if you need help with anything

Thank you all for the welcome.

My order from Ray was quick, complete and well packaged. I was very pleased.

Chadwicks has wonderful orchids, but if you want to know a little secret, the best species cattleyas I have ever received came from Canamia Orchids in Florida and Michael Canamia is outstanding! His orchids are beyond healthy and his prices are way cheaper than Art's.

I am going to wonder around now . . .see you all in other places.

It's good to have another species grower out there. I'm sure you'll like it here. I'm a hack, but I help a little, learn a lot. Everyone here is really laid back, but there are some gurus out there. It's pretty amazing! Ask ANYTHING. One thread a few weeks ago about the highest altitude growing orchid wound up in some Italian orchid journal. They know who to come for for info, and now you do to. Glad you're here!
