Hello again! Female
Default Hello again!

Hey y’all! It’s been a hot minute since I regularly posted with things going nuts at work (Covid) and dealing with some mega health issues after this last hurricane we had. Thought I would reintroduce myself. I’m Sara. I live in New Orleans. And I like orchids.

I have a collection somewhere around 500 last I checked and I grow mostly outdoors in my shade house in a small courtyard, a some things up on my balcony, about 2 dozen under lights on a bookshelf, and have two terrariums dedicated to orchids. I lost about 70+ after I evacuated for hurricane Ida this past September. I thought I was doing good by moving my most precious orchids indoors out of the elements since I wouldn’t be home to care for them. Kind of forgot my sealed up house would be 95°-100°F and 90% humidity+. There was mold on basically every surface in the house. All but four of the orchid I lost were ones indoors. The outdoor ones were mostly fine. Didn’t help that I was relying on my husband to care for them for a few months but he did his best and honestly, even with the losses, I still have far too many, lol

Here's hoping your health issues are behind you and you can laisser les bonnes orchidées pousser.

Hi Sara Jean! Welcome back. Glad things are doing better for you. I am in Lake Charles where we are having our annual Orchid Show today and tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing some of your collection.

Welcome back - I'm also returning to the forum and also from Louisiana! I grew up outside Baton Rouge.
