DavTom, do you have a wattmeter to measure the wattage your lights use?
The only reason I ask this is because the relassy light has a defect imo.
If you have a watt meter see what wattage it consumes at the 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%.
I'd be interested to see what yours draws at those levels. If yours ahs the same defect then you will notice what I mean but I'm not entirely sure if my watt meter was being accurate or some other issue.
Are you using the viparspectra at 100% power? It would be quite powerful for such a small space. My equivalent powered light is being used to light a much much bigger area but I do wonder if I should be using more light.
For your space I only use a light that is 5 times weaker than the viparspectra..

No, I do not have (yet) a wattmeter, but before buying that light I have spent hours watching reviews from sources that I trust. At 100% that light drives 120W instead of the claimed 100W by the company. The PAR footprint is also 20% lower than the claimed PAR by the company. But this is considered very good as other brands are off by 50% or more! Yes, that light is oversized for that space. I ran it at about 50% to get a PAR of 350 for the Cattleya, which is the most demanding one there. I have a couple of Phal in the corners where it drops to 200 PAR. I preferred an over sized lamp because I want to be free in future to use it with non-orchids plants. Ah, I was forgetting...120 at 100%, 60 wstts at 50% and so on This was measured in one of the reviews I wstched.
Cheers,
Davide
