First of all, I want to thank all the active members, it is so generous that you respond and share your experiences.

My name is Sade, I live in Mallorca, Spain and I have been growing orchids for almost 1 year, but my Mom is a long time grower with lots of experience in her way.

Trying to explore new methods, at first, it seemed that there was a lot of information and many videos on YouTube but then you realize that each case is different and many points of view that you do not stop learning with your trial and error N = 1 of what you are reading and learning.

Currently, I have many doubts but also my own experience and I will try to share them and see if you help me improve them or I can help others.

My collection is small (50 plants between adults and flanks), of Phalaenopsis, Cattleyas, Onc., my medium of preference is Barck ships (15mm), my climate is Mediterranean seasonal, it does not drop below 45° in the day with 35-40% humidity and In Summer it does not rise above 96° with 80% humidity, currently, all my plants are indoors, in different rooms with 60 to 70% ° fluctuating with -10-15° degrees of difference between room and relative humidity 50, I can hardly reach more than 65% humidity.

I want to continue, I am passionate about orchids and I think I have found the hobby of my life.

Happy new year

PD: sorry if my writing is confusing my main language is Spanish

Welcome to the Orchid Board! Yes, 50 plants is a good-size collection for someone just starting out. It looks like you have a very nice location for them, going by your photo. And your English is just fine, way better than my Spanish.

Thanks you all!

@Mountaineer370 & @Keysguy

I have always had Phals, one here and one there, when my daughter was born my friends gave 3-4, but I did not take care of them properly. In confinement I began to read and learn, some of them die in the attempt to report and others were fully resurrected and flourished instantly.

Realizing how entertaining it was and how much I liked it, I called all my friends who I knew were like me, with dying Phals and without ever having repotted them and I picked them all change of new plants with flowers and a "note" with exact instructions on how to care for them.

I have been able to save and rebloom about 10 or 15, so my collection increased mainly due to this. Then, I have bought the cattleyas online from nurseries out of town, even Germany, since in Mallorca there are only Dutch Phalanopsis hybrid from supermarket and large distributors.

But again, I have so many questions and would also like to share what ever I've been learning as well.

Cheers!

Welcome Sade. Your climate allows many orchids outdoors.

Yes!! THANK YOU. I need to learn which one and how to adapt them . Also, I am dealing with lots of pest and fungus in the garden, this Spring will be busy in between one thing and the other.

Welcome Sade!

I'm also on a Spanish island but many, many kilometres from you!

¡Ojalá mi español fuera tan bueno como tu inglés!
¡Feliz año nuevo!

¡Gracias a Dios por Google Translate!
