Hello everyone,
I have been stalking you all and all your amazing orchids and excellent advise for many years now without actually joining so thanks for that ❤️
I fell in love with orchids almost 5 years ago and my favourite are Paphiopedilum, Phragmipedium and species Phalaenopsis orchids.
I have some Cattleya orchids but like in many relationships I love them more than they love me and I’m embarrassed to admit I have never reflowered one in the four years I have owned them ! How sad is that!
On the other hand the other types I love listed above love me back so I am not disheartened!🙄

Welcome! In either the Beginners or Cattleya forums, if you can tell more about your growing conditions, you'll get advice that perhaps can make your Catts love you as much as the others already do!

Welcome to the Orchid Board!

Cattleyas not reflowering generally (not always) is due to not enough light.

Awwww, no worries! I love Catts too but also haven't ever gotten one to flower! I know that my light levels are probably the issue, so don't give up! Keep looking for brighter corners in your house! (This year I moved them to a brighter spot and I have a few sheaths that I've got my fingers crossed for!)

Welcome.
It’s always good to see the Australian contingent growing.
I am at Pretty Beach so we are almost neighbours.
Cheers
Arron

Hi Roberta ,
Thanks for your welcome. My neighbour who lives in the flat behind me grows Cattleya orchids and they flower profusely. When I give up on an orchid and give it to her because it’s on deaths door she gets it to flower.😏
I think I was moving them too much, not securing them in the pot and not letting them dry out enough between watering and not enough light. I have 7 cattleyas and they are now got new growths everywhere so I’m hopeful!

DrDawn and estación seca,
Yes good advice! I moved them recently to a nice sunny spot and things are looking up! Thanks for the warm welcome ❤️

Arron,
Hello! I would say living in Killcare (Beach Drive) we are neighbours for sure ! We are lucky to live in such a beautiful place, my daughter went to Pretty Beach Public so I used to drive down there once a day.
I now go to the Post office to get my parcels, or some hot chips and a book with a gold coin donation and even though I’ve lived here for 12 years I’m still blown away by the beauty of the area as I drive around the waters edge.
