Smile Hi you all from Ohio...

Been growing orchids for a year now and love it! Use to grow African Violets (well still have a few) but friend helped me appreciate orchids. Most are Oncidiums, Miltonias and Neofinetia's... figuring if I could keep these alive for a year, to take on the harder ones... None died... Yeah... one unhappy but working on her! Anyway, thank you for having me.

Hello and welcome to the Orchid Board! I also grow a few African Violets (and succulents), along with my orchids. Your user name tells me maybe you ride a Paso Fino or Peruvian Paso?

Hello! Welcome to Orchid Board!

I had a nice African Violet collection many years ago. If I had more space, I would probably have some now. They can be as addicting as Orchids.

I hope your struggling orchid will soon be healthy and happy once more! Good luck!

Welcome! How about a picture of your horse, if it exists?

PasoRider! I used to also have a ton of AV's. Only five or so now. My orchid addiction slowly took up the space.

And agreed! Either here or on the Pet Forum (down toward bottom of board) let's see a horse picture! I have a Missouri Fox Trotter, and a five year old Paint birthed by my husband's horse. Gotta love the horsies!

Hi PasoTrailRider. Welcome to Orchid Board.

I love horses, love riding them, and used to volunteer at a horse rescue until two different horses stepped on my foot and broke a bone each time in my right foot putting me in a boot for about six months. Oy! I have two AV and other plants; you can look at my profile for the list of plants I have. What part of Ohio are you from?

It is well known, if you don't break a bone or thrown from a horse, your not a true horsemen!! LOL! Live in Jefferson a few miles from Lake Erie. See your in Florida! Been there a lot showing my Paso Fino's, love it there in the winters but so hot in summer there~ Love that every afternoon it rained though, cooled it down. Could not believe the wild plants down there are plants we pay for up here! Thank you for the shout out!

Last spring and summer, I put some of the orchids in my enclosed porch which faces NNE and ENE and brought them in for the winter. My Den. phals and Phaiocalanthe really liked it outside! One of my Den. phals didn't like transition of being brought inside from a rainy, cool evening and gave me what for by rotting... partly my fault for not giving the room enough air circulation to dry it thoroughly.

As far as growing my plants, I give credit to Abba Father for blessing me with a mostly green thumb, a heritage of farmers on both my paternal and maternal sides of my family, and a desire to research anything. I have some medical issues that tax me physically and my plants (and household chores) all suffer from time to time. I had to delete my anthurium from my list yesterday or today because it's dead due to neglect after falling out of its pot and me just scooping it up and plopping it on top of the potting soil.
