Hi, glad to be a member
My wife Rona and I have been growing orchids for over 30 years. Recently we have had great success with cool growers. I believe it is the quality of the water from our well. We grow in a greenhouse with about 700 plants. We have it divided into two sections, which enables us to control the temperature with a swamp cooler. We have recently had great success with draculas.

As I indicated we grow a variety of genera with success with phaps, draculas, miscelaneous species. We have been fortunate to get our share of AOS awards as well. We are members of the AOS as well as Southeast Penna. Orchid Society.

Welcome to OB Harold,
I'd love to see some pictures of your setup. With 700 on the go, how many would you say are blooming at any given time ?

I would imagine with that many orchids you are never hurting for something to bring into the house and display. Welcome to the forum, I look forward to learning from you.

Marty as to your question how many are in bloom at one time-the masdevallias and draculas flower through out the year. So we might have ten or twelve of the madevallias in flower at one time, right now we we have four draculas in flower including a vampira with 5 flowers opening.
There are usually several phrags and phaps in bloom, as well as dendrobiums and other genera. We really don't have much success with the cats. With many of the phaps, you have to have patience for them to mature. So in order to have a good collection, you have plants in various stages of maturity.
