Default A little Hey Yall from Texas!

Hey yall, my name is Barron and I've just been obsessed with orchids and have a really really small cattleya growing right now in my kitchen

I bought a Phal before but it died sadly, But I'm trying again and correcting things i'm doing wrong hopefully I wont have to commit genocide before i get it right haha :P

I will attach some images of my new catt., for somereason there is what appears to be back on some of the roots not sure what it is but the pictures should clarify.

I have better grow special bark mix, bloom and grow food, aswell as an orchid pot and a mist bottle.

I'm going to start misting every other day and watering every 5 days, I have already watered the first week i got it and the week after feed it.. I'm going to water again in a few days however.

I had one last question: I was in a nursery today and on one of the tags it talked about auto watering with 6 ice cubes (3 on each plant) not sure how that would work out, but hey maybe it will help me not kill another plant.

Happy holidays
Barron!

Hello and welcome to the Orchid Board.
What is the name of your new orchid?
I would NOT water with the ice method--pretty quick way to kill the roots.

Hi Barron,
welcome to OB. I like the pot you have your Catt in, it's very cute. And no, wouldn't do the icecube watering method either. Since they're tropical plants, watering with icewater wouldn't be very pleasant on the roots...

Welcome to Orchid Board

I'm afraid I don't know much about Catts, but I agree with others about not using icecubes.
