Default Orchid Lover from Michigan

I'm an orchid lover who enjoys growing. A neophyte, to be sure, but I do have a little experience.

I'm currently using regular T12 flourescents fixtures, with a cool white and a warm white in each fixture. I'm also using daylight bulbs in some cases. I'm getting ready to purchase a Sun Blaze T5 fixture (2 ft, 4 bulb). Picked that one since it's the only one I can afford.

The following is my list of orchids:

Brassia 'Shooting Star' x 'Dark Star'

Dendrobium nobile

Epi Pacific Flame 'Fiery Sunset'

Onc. 'Sang Chan'

Paph Coultienianum "France" x Paph laweranceanum "Tradition'

Phal (Ken Peterson x Mama Cass) 'Pine Ridge 3' 'Summer Beach'

Phal 3J Dtps Sweet Melody x P Sparkle Rose

Phal Salu Peoker

Phal NOID (White with purple accents)

All of these have flowered for me, except the Epi, which is new.

Thanks to all of you out there who are willing to help us beginners out!!

Kitty

Welcome, from another Michigander. What part of the state are you in. I'm in W. Mich. near Grand Rapids.

Welcome to the board. Where in Michigan? I grow under lights and have many t5 setups.

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

Welcome Kitty... don't pay any attention to Ross... he just sits under those lights so he can get a suntan... it helps him get through the winter and all the snow he gets up there in Cadillac.... right, Ross?

So that's why he's always so tan!

Careful, Donald.... some of us might not take too kindly with regards to school loyalty.... especially to out-of-staters... or is it that you lived here, attended that other school and moved....
