Default Hello from Canada!

Hi everyone!

I was introduced to orchids last year when I went to shop for my mom's gift for mother's day. I bought a really beautiful moth orchid for my mom and since then, been taking care of it. Few days ago, a new spike grew and I was so happy! I thought I did something wrong when I cut the old spikes 1" from the bottom and they turned yellow, dried, and black inside. Anyways, I hope I can learn more about orchids and the best ways to taking care of them from the experts here.

Welcome to OB!

No you did not do anything wrong by cutting the spike. Phalaenopsis will usually rebloom from the older flower spikes as long as they are still green. After the primary blooming, the susequent reblooms aren't as impressive. They put out a smaller number of flowers.
