Default Hello everyone, I'm diving back in to orchids.

Many years ago I sue to grow a number of different orchids, mostly masdevallias and other smaller species. I got out of the hobby as other interests drew my attention and money, mostly scuba diving. However it's time I jumped back in.

I hope to rebuild my orchid growing area and start up the masdevallias, dracula and other wonderful species. Luckily I live within driving distance of J&L Orchids in Connecticut and fairly soon the collection will start up again.

This forum seems to be a friendly and informative one. I tried to register at "The Orchid Source" forum but for some reason they turned down my registration. That's the first time that ever occured on any forum I have ever been a member of and that includes a number of scuba diving, sports and antique bottle collecting forums. Very odd it seems.

Alan

Hi Alan...welcome to Orchidboard

I'm sure you're going to be happy with our little community Many members from around the world, all in different phases of their addiction...and all willing to share their accumulated knowledge! It's wonderful

Do you concentrate mainly on miniatures?

Welcome to the Orchid Board. We wont deny you
Too bad there aren't any orchids at the bottom of the sea. Heheheee, that would be a sight to see!!! Glad you found your way back to the hobby, and you found your way here.

I truly prefer the miniatures. Although I have plenty of space to grow plants I find minitures fascinating. One of my other hobbies is photography and even there I prefer taking macro shots to wide angle scenics.

Alan, you are so lucky to live near J&L. Last year they traveled to Alaska and gave a talk on miniature orchids to our Orchid Society here in Anchorage. They have a wonderful selection.
