Hi there,
I'm a 25 year old orchid lover from The Netherlands and always looking for more information on how to take the best care of my plants, which is what brought me here!
My favorite species to grow are coelogyne, phaius, dendrobium, jewelorchids & (relatively) small-flowered cattleya's.
Unfortunatly I don't have a greenhouse so my plants have to settle for a livingroom environment and i found a few types that grow well here .
It's nice to have found such a big forum about orchids and I'm looking forward to reading more of it!

Do not know how your lighting is in your home.
Alot of growers in their home use supplemental
lighting to assist in blooming. Remeber the grow
lights must have a red to blue spectrum in order to
produce blooming.

I'm in the Netherlands as well, but I'm not Dutch! What region are you in? I'm in Wageningen. If you are interested, the Dutch orchid society is organising their annual NOV-Dag orchid show/sale in Utrecht on October 3rd. It's a great show to get cheap plants from other home growers!

Camille: I live in Den Haag, where are you originally from if I may ask? I am going to the NOV-day in october! How about you? been looking forward to that for months . Have you ever visited the botanical orchid grower Wubben, near Utrecht? They should be there aswell, they have a beautiful collection.
