Default Hi From Seattle

Hello,

I have used OB for a lot of research, so finally decided to join. I see a lot of familiar names from other forums. I live in Seattle, WA have been growing orchids since the mid 80's. I have tried many different genera. I grow inside under fluorescent lights so have settled on Phals and Paphs with a few others thrown in. I particularly like Phal species. I enjoy all the photos posted by members here.

Susan

Good to have you here, Susan! I'm also a true believer in Phal. species so I'm sure we'll see one another a lot on the OB!

Hi Susan! Glad to see another Pacific Northwest orchid enthusiast here! There are a few of us on the OB, probably more lurking around as visitors.

I'm a relative beginner (started with a Phal. NOID in 2005) and my collection is just starting to grow at a decent pace. I expect it to start growing a little faster now that I've discovered Olympic Orchids near your own city. Have you ever visited them? I think they have open house for Seattle-area residents every Saturday. Unfortunately, I'd have to commit a full day or more to visit there because I'm at least 2 hours away (on a REALLY good traffic day. lol)

I love Phal. species too, although I'm trying other things as well to see what works best for me. I'm expecting my first Masdie soon, so I can try my hand at a cool grower (my house is usually very cool).

Anyways, now that I've introduced myself and then some, welcome again to Orchid Board! Hope to see pictures of your beautiful orchids soon!

Thank you all for the nice welcom. I did post some photos of currently in bloom Phal species under the Phal Alliance Species forum if anyone hasn't seen them yet and is interested.

Visiting Olympic is on the list, but haven't done it yet. I did buy a "regular" Phal equestris from them last spring at the NWOS Show. It hasn't bloomed yet, but is close to blooming size and a very healthy plant .

Welcome to OB Sue! As Evan said it's good to see another PNW person here. I'm farther south down in Southern Oregon. I've already seen your beautiful species Phals. They are awesome! I'm just getting into species Phals myself, and have a small collection of Paphs (mostly species). Glad you came out of lurk mode.
