Default Orchid Sculptures

Hello orchid lovers,

I have referred to this site many times for reference photos for the Clay Flower Sculptures I produce. I do indeed love orchids and am in the process of learning as much as possible about them...especially their anatomy.
I am attaching a few photos of my attempts that were recently completed. I hope you all like them and would love to hear some feedback.

Phaius Orchids
Green Cymbidiums

Regards to all,
Ron Gutman

Thank you!
I have been doing these for a little over a year now. Been getting great responses from all over the globe. They have become a new passion for me. So much to learn and know about orchids. Without always having a real specimen to use as a model this site is a gold mine to me. I don't get to make too many as they are very labor intensive and time consuming...but a great challenge. Open to all suggestions and comments.
Thanks again,
Ron

WOW!
those are amazing! I can see where they would be very time and labor intensive.
Very beautiful! You have an amazing talent!

Hey Brenda,
Thanks for the compliment! Yes, they do look real... even up close. They have fooled many a flower lover. The special clay I use also keeps all the petals flexible and poseable. Best part, no care other than maybe a light dusting with a soft brush. I put them in planters (I'm a ceramic artist, so I make those too!) w/moss, driftwood, mulch, stones etc. roots and all. Glad you enjoy them!
This is a busy site...just posted those pics a little while ago and have many comments already.
Thanks again,
Ron

Do you sell your work at any shows....ie orchid shows etc? If not I think there would be alot of interest! This is a very busy site, and fellow orchid addicts like myself "check in" min. once a day, sometimes as often as I walk by the den. Lots of neat stuff to look at and learn. Beautiful work Ron.
