Hi everyone! Im a newbie from Upstate NY! I started "lurking" about 2 weeks ago when I accidentally sunburned my phal (whoops!) and was trying to figure out how to treat it, and you all seem so nice and informative I thought I'd introduce myself!

I started my orchid obsession about 2 years ago when planning my wedding...i had no idea what kind of flowers i wanted so my florist showed me all sorts of photos and i kept falling in love with all the arrangements with Orchids! So needless to say my entire wedding was filled with beautiful orchids! Then my husband and I went to Fiji last year and on one island there were so many unusual orchids growing all over the place that my obsession with orchids grew even more and here I am today!

So I just thought I'd say hi...im learning SO much from these posts you have no idea! Im so glad I found this board!

What types of orchids do you have?

Your wedding must have been wonderful with an orchid theme for the flowers! One of our other members, Erin (esungirl) decided to do an orchid theme for her wedding last year and posted pictures, they were gorgeous!

Hi Kristin! There are apparently a whole ton of us from "upstate NY" kicking around (though that's a pretty broad swath of space!)

(i'm in the finger lakes, and am also new to orchids).
