Default Hello from North Jersey

Hello from North Jersey !

I'm getting hooked on orchids I'm reading up on basics of growth and setups. I see this forum is a great place.

1) Are there any good nurseries with good selection in North Jersey ?

2) What is a good mix for Phyl ? I see that a lot of successful nurseries are using Peat Moss / Perlite Mix (4:1 ratio)

That is it for now. Hoping to hear from members of this forum

Aboard Jay, glad you joined the neighborhood. It's a great place to learn and enjoy the addiction.

There are many great orchid vendors that many of us here use, as for local, can't help you there but I am sure one of our members will help you along that path.

Your asking about a good orchid mix for "Phyl", I think your typo might be "Phal" (phalaenopsis). They are the most forgiving of orchids, easy to grow and great for either indoors or outdoors, weather permit of course. As for mix's a general orchid mix will work for most orchids. This you can purchase at any nursery or box store. The ratio 4:1 is suggestive and should work well, retain water as orchid bark dries quickly.

We here at the OB love s and don't hesitate to take a stroll to the gallery and upload your orchid s for all member to enjoy.

Glad you've joined us....
