Default A good place to start

Hello!
I just recently bought myself a phal (least i'm pretty sure it's a phal) and i'm completely new to orchids. I'm going to post pictures later to find out exactly which kind it is (and which kind of kind it is...lol).
Anyways, just thought i'd intro myself. So far found some pretty good info and this seems like a good place to start learning the art of orchids

Welcome Moyra! Glad you chose to join. We love pictures (and you'll see lots of them posted). I'm sure we'll all try to help you identify what you bought. But just keep in mind, there are quite a few "enablers" here and your one plant will turn into many more quickly!

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

Haha, i'm my own worst enabler. I'll see if i do well with one, then maybe get more

I guess i could have said a bit more about myself. I'm 25, living in the cold north of Edmonton Alberta. I live with my mom, but spend most of my time with my boyfriend. In fact it's his condo that my bird and orchid reside. He actually enjoys plants, just doesn't buy any, so i guess that it's up to me to green up the place. Anyways, i'll load some pics up later when i get home so i can find out what i have =)
Thanks for the welcomes guys

Welcome Moyra! It seems you are well on your way to orchid addiction (all you need is one!). And if your boyfriend doesn't mind plants you can really go crazy! Before I moved in with my boyfriend I kept all my plants, orchids and birds there too. I think it made it more homey and gave me something to do when I was waiting for him to get home from work. Have fun looking around on here and we will eagerly await !
