Default Hi Hi

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to say how great this board is and a little bit about myself. Aside from my addiction to orchids, I’m also into terrariums and reef aquariums. My girlfriend is getting interested in dart frogs, so we have yet to set up a terrarium. Oh I also love growing all kinds of weird plants, like rare tropical rainforest trees, all the way to carnivorous plants. I have also recently acquired an interest in environmental control systems.

Other then my day job (used to pay for my hobbies); I’m a freelance graphics/visual effect artist. From time to time I also help new local companies create their logos and other marketing related things. I want to make visual effects a full time job, and am currently working on a new demo reel.

I look forward to meeting everyone here and learning from ever ones experiences.

Cheers!

Hey Kris,

Welcome to the OB. How long have you been addicted. There certainly is no such thing as owning only 1 orchid!

I know this is an orchid forum, but what have you got for reef tanks? Except for most recently, I have had fresh and marine tanks for years (or is that eons!)

Thanks Oscarman

I agree with the only one orchid dose not work. I had just one, did not do to well... They all seem to be better when they have more friends so I have to keep on hunting and adding to the ever growing collection.

I have a 90 gallon tank, that has manly gobies, sps and lps corals as shrimps, crabs and what have you. It’s a lot more work then I would like right now. I am moving at the end of September, and at that point I will decide if I’m going to keep on with it or take a break.

That would be great to see some pictures if you have them!

Where are you growing your orchids - under lights, windowsill, greenhouse (lucky you!)?

I have not taken a pic for some time now; I will try to remember to do it when the light is still on.

Oh where do I grow the orchids well lets see where don’t I... windowsills, shelves in front of the windows, near the tank lights, we also have a glassed in patio that during the summer months the orchids live there. My goal is to one day have a full blown conservatory… ahhh dreams!
