Smile It is indeed !!

I love it. The colour and strength of the spike is awesome. I have had it for years but never known just what it is

Mick,
I agree that it looks like a Schomburgkia cross. The spotted flowers make me think that it is a Schomburkia lyonsii cross. What do the pseudobulbs look like? Are they swollen at the base which would suggest Cattleya bowringiana as a parent? The shape of the lip looks a bit like a Cattleya aurantiaca lip. I have SL Summit (Schomburgkia lyonsii X Laelia anceps) which looks similar but is not the same dark purpel colouring but has the same spotting. I do not think SL Summit has the upside down flowers and it flowers twice a year (has spikes on now).
Keep well and kind regards
Mike

Default Schomsomething

I see the lyonsii in it The pseudobulbs are long, say 50 cm and akin to a flattish baseball bat in shape. Thanks for you interest.
Regards Mick
