angraecum elephantinum? Please help identify very weird flower Female
Default angraecum elephantinum? Please help identify very weird flower

Hello! So I have been babying my angraecum elephantinum for about 10 months now. Ever since I purchased it from a greenhouse I have been in love. Now it is starting to flower and I have been suspicious of its flower spikes since they began to form. Now some extremely small flower with purple inside is opening ?! PleSe look at the photos there are two flower spikes with like little nodes all over then and one very small flower is opening. Is this actually an angraecum elephantinum?? Please help!!

It's definitely 100% not A. elephantinum.

I'm guessing it is something more along the lines of Tuberolabium kotoense. I'm not super familiar with IDing this group, so that's not an exact ID, but your plant is probably something similar.

I knew it!!! I should have followed my gut! I am new to orchid collecting it’s only been about 2 years so I don’t know all that much yet. Wow I am very sad now I was so looking forward to the angraecums bloom. I’m going to contact the orchid greenhouse I purchased from. Thank you for your help!

That's what I'd do. This happens some times, even to the best of vendors. What differentiates a good vendor from a bad is how they handle it.

At the very least they may be able to confirm the correct ID. They will hopefully offer to send you the correct plant (if available) or some form of compensation like a refund.
