At first glance I though Phragmipedium! But it doesn't have a pouch, and the leaves are those of a Lepanthes or relative.

Does the flower stalk come off of the node at the center of the leaf, on the other side of where the leaf stalk attaches to the leaf?

I'm sorry, it was up high on a bank and I couldn't get close enough to tell.

Phrag lindenii. It's a weird species, with a third petal instead of a pouch. Wow! The leaves might actually belong to something else, but the flower is unique and unmistakable.

Thank you for that. Photos and description certainly fit.

Leaves might be a Stelis... the Phrag leaves are probably down in the underbrush.

The leaves of the Phragmipedium lindenii are obscured behind the leaves of the Pleurothallid growing in the foreground of the photo. If you enlarge the photo, you will see the Phrag's leaves in the background.

Part of the Phrag's right leaf, (the leaf that is on the left side of the photograph), is yellowing.
