Default ID Needed for possible Bellara with incorrect tag

Hi everyone,

I'm currently in the process of repotting and tending to my shadehouse and I came across one of my favorites, so I Googled the name on the tag ("Bllra. Marfitch Howard's Dream" ) to find out more and to my surprise it wasn't the correct orchid! The tag was included when I bought the plant (I've never owned a Bllra. Marfitch in my life), so now I'm dying to know what it really is.

It has a really amazing gardenia-like fragrance

Any ideas are appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Terri

Could that be 'Tacoma Glacier?' The coloration is right but the petal shape is not as spidery as mine.

Definitely not Marfitch (which is dark purple with dramatic patterns) Don't think it is Tahoma Glacier either, mine is white with red in the center and quite sure it's correctly identified. Going to be pretty impossible to identify (a lot easier to say what it isn't than what it is), other than it is one of the Oncidium-group hybrids. But the fragrance sounds wonderful, it's lovely, enjoy!

Your only real chance of IDing would be to contact the original seller and hope they recall what they had at that time. If you got it from a BBS or if you have had the plant for years, you can forget getting a truly accurate ID.

Thanks everyone! I figured it's going to be nearly impossible to ID this one, have a feeling it's not even a Bllra. Here in Hawai'i there are a handful of main orchid suppliers, so I think I'll start browsing their websites and possibly reaching out.

The orchid has been thriving for years, so there's no rush to ID it, but my curiosity is strong!

Edit: Just after posting this I found the exact match thanks to a Google reverse image search. Onc. Speckled Spire "Whisp" !
