Default Identification help required :-)

I was given an unlabelled orchid. It was waterlogged in sphagnum moss with a stagnant water stench. I repotted in bark for the time being.

The plant consists of pseudobulbs. Possibly deciduous as leaves are missing on some. Leaves are a transparent green and short. Roots are stringy and white.

I could wait until the flowers open to identify but I am too impatient and want to be sure the growing condition are correct.

Any help is appreciated. Cheers.

Picture are here and here.

Kind of has a Lycaste look to it. Maybe one of the close Lycaste relatives. Could be a Coelogyne. I'm not sure. Obviously flower pics would help quite a bit.

It looks rather like a Lycaste of some sort, or Promenaea. Please post a photo of the blooms, I'm curious!!

I was thinking it may be a Lycaste. I also have a Lycaste aromatica which has larger leaves and large pseudobulbs with the spiky tips which this one does not. I am not familiar with other Lycastes so was not sure.

When flowers bloom I will post.

Cheers.

I dont think it's a lycaste...the leaves don't look quite right and, if I'm not mistaken, all my lycaste spikes look like brown sticks under the buds. I don't think I've ever had one with green spikes.

Definitely post pics when that bud opens!

After finding out the flowers may be yellow and doing further research, my best guess is Promenaea Sunlight. Will post flower as soon as it blooms.

Cheers.

That's why I was thinking Promenaea, the bud looks a lot like those on my Prom.
