Do you know the plant's needs for light, temperature and humidity? Do you know that you can keep the plant alive in the conditions you can provide? If not, why'd you buy it?

Ummm... many reasons. First of all, it was $5! I figured the cute basket and having the adorable plant for even a few months was worth that. Secondly, I've raised many genera and haven't done too badly–what orchid grower doesn't enjoy the challenge and learning something new? Thirdly, the orchid nursery I purchased this from is going out of business and this may be one of my last chances to buy locally aside from the annual orchid show. Finally, I figured I could turn to my fellow internet orchid enthusiasts for the ID and go from there... Ż\_(ツ)_/Ż

Appears to be Lockhartia. I have had mine at least 5 yrs,an easy grower,unusual leaves and interesting yellow flowers.

There was a dendrobium for sale here that looks like that but unfortunately the guy's closed for the holidays. I forgot. Dendorbium... something!!

Oooh it does look like the Lockhartia, thanks! I've never heard of Lockhartia before. I hope it is, I really like some of the flowers I see in Google Image Search. Right now I have it outside in my yard hanging with my other mounted plants. We'll see how it goes!

I don't know what it is, but Dendrobium anceps also comes to mind. Look that up.

I would agree with Den. anceps or one of its close relatives (there are several species in that group) It is a warm/intermediate grower, also likes humidity. (Lockhartia has more "braided" leaves, not so succulent.

Ok, looking it up it's probably Den. anceps. The leaves are definitely not too braided and it has less symmetrical growth like the anceps. Very interesting plant! My research indicates the flowers smell like apple pie, how odd. Thanks for the ID!
