Default Orchid identification

A friend gave me this plant and it has no tag, hoping someone will be able to id it. Also is it suitable for a windowsill?
Thanks in advance,
Joe

Seems to be Cattleya alliance, possibly an Encyclia x Brassavola hybrid (Encyvola). Without flowers there isn't much chance of being certain of even that much.

If you have a sunny window it should do well.

Those flowers look like Encyclia blooms.

Seeing those flowers, it is probably Epicyclia Mabel Kanda or Epicyclia Serena O'Neill, or a closely related hybrid. These are Encyclia cordigera hybrids with some Epidendrum paniculatum in the ancestry, and some with another Encyclia species as well. That bit of Epidendrum would explain why it has very Encyclia-like flowers but without the typical round pseudobulbs.

You should be able to find culture instructions for either of those hybrids, or Encyclia cordigera would also be a good model. Windowsill growing is certainly possible if you have enough light.
