Help with Identification - Guatemala
I live in Guatemala at 5,200 ft. and have a native orchid that someone gifted me and that I cannot identify. It is just at the end of its blooming cycle which coincided with the rains. There are a couple of flowers still on it. It is an epiphyte, very small flowers of about 3/8 inch (1 cm) at the widest with 3-5 per stem. The stem is about 4 inches (10 cm) long. The petals and sepals are similar though not exact in size and shape and of a yellowish-green hue. The lip and column are a creamy white. None of my books or internet research has revealed it. If anyone has a name and especially an internet link, I would appreciate it.

Looks like an Encyclia of some sort.

Orchid names have changed a lot over the years. Orchids now called Encyclia have also been called Anacheilum, Epidendrum, Prosthechea and more. This is the text from a 1952 book on orchids of Guatemala. There are no photos in this format, but maybe you can find matching descriptions and look up photos on the Internet.

I think I have found it thanks to your guidance! I clicked through all of the entries on the ISOPE site and found Encyclia ochracea or Prosthechea ochracea, common name is Ochre Yellow Encyclia.
For some reason I am not able to post a link here, but here is a pdf of the page.
I am making an Orchid Journal of all that I have and carefully labeling each plant so others will have that info.

And it gets even more confusing because in some instances the species name changed along with the genus. My Anacheilum baculus were sold to me as Encyclia pentotis. That's 2 names old!

Prosthechea ochracea looks right. I've been looking for one for years...
