Default No ID oncidium alliance, please help!

Hi guys!

I picked these 4 oncidiums up from my local nursery, however they only had the generic Dancing Lady Orchids tag on them. Am I able to please get some help identifying them so I can label them clearly?

Thanks!

Someone more knowledgeable will be along soon. I believe the 1st has Brassie blood in it and the 2nd Miltonia. So the first two are hybrids not straight oncidiums. I could guess but will leave it to the experts. Impressive purchase!

Precise identification of any NoID hybrid is rarely possible. No matter how much someone thinks "it looks just like" there are hundreds of similar hybrids. And with unlabeled mass market plants there is a large chance they are unnamed crosses.

In general terms, the first is probably a Brassidium hybrid rather than a pure Brassia species or hybrid.

The second is possibly Aliceara Tahoma Glacier, but could be some other Aliceara-type hybrids. It is such a well known and widely distributed hybrid that it is at least possible to speculate.

The third is probably an Oncostele hybrid. The very dark ones usually are.

The fourth is also probably an Oncostele-type, but possibly a more complex hybrid that includes Oncostele background.

I would agree with the first have Brassia in it. Otherwise I cannot help. Great looking plants, good luck.

If you chat them up a bit they may give you contact information for their suppliers. If you keep following the chain of custody somebody should be able to tell you what they are.

As was said before - precise ID is impossible in cases like these. But the first one, guessing, would be a Bratonia/Brassia of some sort, second probably Aliceara and third reminds me of Oncostele Wildcat (one of the darker ones)

The first definitely a Brassia hybrid, looks very similar to mine but not as spindly. The second one may very well have Miltonia in it, and actually it looks like I have the same flower! So looking forward to any help with identification.

I found your second one - it's called Odontoglossum Tahoma. If you give the name a cursory search, you'll see it pop up. Hope this helps!

I agree with you except for the last one which could be Vuylstekeara genus.

Any ID of a "NOID" hybrid should be treated as a general guide to plant heredity and therefore culture, rather than a positive identification, suitable for labeling the plant.

As PaphMadMan stated, that is rarely possible. I'd go further and say 'not possible'.

Just enjoy them for their appearance. Much in the same way you might enjoy the company of a nice dog that did not come with papers and a pedigree.
