Rare or mutated orchid?
Hello all!
I wondered if you could help tell me what's going on with my orchid....I was given this orchid as a gift a couple of years ago. It was flowering when I received it, and has only recently flowered again. This time I noticed something weird, there seems to be 3 parts (lips?) on the inside of each flower, is this normal? I didn't notice this when I first received the plant, but I've recently got more into orchids, so might have only just been paying attention this time! Wondered if maybe this was a rare orchid or simply a mutation of the plant. Hope you can help!
(photos attached!)
Thanks!

Peloric flowers aren't necessary a mutation. They can be caused by environmental factors, so they may not show up the next time this plant flowers, or even in the rest of this spike. Only time will tell. Peloric Phals are pretty commonly sold among mass market plants though. Nothing unusual really.

Great thank you for the info...yes I love the look of them too, very unusual. Always a nice surprise when they finally bloom, but this time was extra special!

Yes I think this was bought from a supermarket so that might explain it! Thank you!
