Is this Sedirea japonica? Male
Default Is this Sedirea japonica?

I was meandering through San Francisco's Japan Town this morning. I went to Katsura Gardens and they had all of these lovely Japanese orchids (mostly different neofinetia.)

I was smitten with this adorable miniature! I may go back for more.. It was such a pleasant surprise to stumble on some unique plants for a change!

I'm guessing Sedirea japonica because of the growth habits and context of the store, but the writing on the label is not in English. She said the English name is Min-Maru.

Just seeking some confirmation.

Thanks!

Given the provenance I would agree it's S. japonica.

Yes, the label says minmaru. Minmaru (or Myon-fan in Chinese pronounciation, I think) is a round leaf variety of Phalaenopsis (Sedirea) japonica.

Is this Sedirea japonica? Female
Default Sedirea (Phalaenopsis) japonica

This plant likes cooler temps than phalaenopsis. It grows where the winter lows are around 50 degrees F. It likes to become dry between waterings. Give it phal. light.
