Noid Cattleya Male
Default Noid Cattleya from NCOS auction

Hello , I'm new to the board , just started a small Orchid collection. I bid on a few plants at the National Capital Orchid Society Auction and one of the ones I got was one of the very few unlabeled plants. If the picture posting works perhaps someone could give me an idea of what kind of orchid I have.
Thanks
Steve

Welcome to Orchid Board.

It looks like a Cattleya with possibly some Laelia anceps influence with the tall flower spike and distinct lip. Give it general Cattleya care. It's very nice.

Default Thank you

Thanks for the reply , I'll look up the orchid you listed.
There is a NCOS in D.C. meeting on the 16th of March so I could get some more info. It's a lovely flower , copper and burnt orange colours. There is also a second spike coming on what I thought was an old stem. It was a ten dollar bid , so I'm very pleased it has turned out so well. I'm from B.C. ,now in DC , soon perhaps to be in the Netherlands and looking forward to the Dutch and German Orchid nursery visits
Thanks again Steve

You will likely get lots of help at the meeting. Others on Orchid Board may have other ideas of it's parentage. But without a tag, it usually has to remain as a NOID plant as there are so many Cattleya hybrids. Usually general Cattleya care is good for all of them tho.

Wow what a cool flower. I hope you can find out what it is. I have never seen one like it at all.
