NoID mini? Female
Default NoID mini?

OK, so I know this is a long shot, and I know I will never get a definitive name or ID on this orchid, and that's all fine. I don't show orchids, and I really only ended up with this one because of the whims of my grandmother.... I mostly prefer Carnivores.

Mostly, if we can even pin down a genus/group/alliance, that might tell me how to take better care of it, and maybe even get a bloom.... Thus far it has been trial and error to see what it seems to 'like'.

Here is the history (if that helps)

This orchid is at least 4 years old. I have had it for 3 of those years. My brother owned it for a year before that. It was given to him by my grandmother, who brought it from Hawaii as souvenirs she distributed to family members. I do not know if it was a seed or young plant at that time.

It has not bloomed in my care. I do not know if that is an error in my care of this plant, or if it simply isn't old enough yet.

For the first year I owned it, I put it in a terrarium that was warm, moderately humid, and well-lit (fluorescent). It did not seem to grow, nor did it seem to suffer.

After that it was transferred to a more humid terrarium, that was better lit, and a little cooler (marginally above room temp) It seems to have done well there, having put on in the last year, new leaves and new roots. The new leaves have a little bit of a blush to them, which tells me it is getting at the very least, sufficient light. It is potted on store-bought orchid mix, in a 2" pot sunk in sphagnum moss that is always moist. It shares that terrarium with a few NoID Phals (grocery store variety) a Vanilla planifolia, and a NoID Cattleya Hybrid from Lowes.

I'm not currently allowed to upload pictures to a thread, it looks like. The pic is uploaded to my profile, and is the only one so far.

Best guesses?

It's very hard to tell from the one photo; it would be nice to have a few more; perhaps one in profile so we can see the structure of the leaf and another that is shot with something closer to natural lighting. It looks to me like it is due for a repot; I would suspect that if you are growing it in a humid, cool terrarium it would do much better mounted than in a pot, but just my 2p.
I am sure that the others will chime in,
Adam
