Help identifying and care tips
Default Help identifying and care tips

Hello, I received this beautiful orchid at an auction and have absolutely no clue what it is or how to care for it!

The plant stands about 3.5 ft tall from end to pot. it has one main stem with two off shoots and 7 very large, thick, green leaves at the base.
I've attached a few photos to help identify the orchid.

If anyone can give me any advice on how to care for it I would be very grateful.

- If I knew what kind of plant it is I could read on care instructions
-Watering, trimming, feeding
-Is it ok in its current pot?

and on and on lol. I have a black thumb and I'm worried I'm going to hurt it so again if any of you have advice I'm all ears!!

Thanks in advance

Its a Phalaenopsis. Its got three spikes. Chances are it is a Phalaenopsis Sogo Yukidian V3, but you need to find the tag inside the pot when you repot it after the blooms are gone.
By looking at the picture, the cache pot might not have a hole so you have to remove the plastic pot inside the four cornered big pot to water it under the sink once a week.
The spike with flowers is trained in a wire to bend and showcase the flowers with the use of plastic clips. The two other spike is still forming buds.

read this link and follow the culture.

Welcome to the club. Phal's are one of the more resilient orchids out there and you should do well with this plant. Congrats on the win for the 3 spikes they are beautiful!

If it is Phal. Sogo Yukidian, it will need a bit more light than you would give a phal, so if you grow other phals, move it closer to the light source than you have the others.

Good luck!
