Miniature Dendobrium from Ikea
Default Miniature Dendobrium and Phal from Ikea

Hi all,

So a few days ago I saw a cute Den and a Phal in Ikea Singapore and I bought them and now they are sitting in my bathroom in Indonesia. (Yes, they survived the plane ride and customs).

It is labelled as Miniature Dendobrium and Phal. May I get an id for these two please? And in terms of care, is a mini Den any different to normal Dens? Currently it is sitting in charcoal and clay pot.

The Phal is sitting in a plastic transparent pot in moss. One drainage hole at the bottom which gets covered when the Phal is sitting on the table. Some local orchid sellers suggest we repot all Phals in plastic on claypots and moss. Is this true? We are in Indonesia, hot (30 C), humidity above 90%.

Thank you

The mini is quite small, maybe only 20 cm tall. The bud right at the tip is beginning to blast though

Agree, this is a Dendro phala. Don't know its fantasy name.
Regarding phala: it's not possible to find concrete name, there are several similar hybrids on the market.
