Seeing that I've finally figured how to attach pictures to a thread, I decided to post another post to ask for help in IDing the new dens my mom picked up at a flower show. Anyone know the names of these? Thanks!

The top photo is Dendrobium nobile.

The bottom photo is more of a side shot; judging it from its color and the wide dorsal it could be Dendrobium aphyllum or Dendrobium primulinum.

I would suggest looking Dendrobium at the Hawaiian orchid nursery sites.

Nice acquisitions, very pretty!

I disagree that the top one is Den. nobile, it looks far more like a hybrid to me, albeit one with a large percentage of nobile ancestry. The other looks like a hybrid, too, of the same type but probably with substantial contribution from Den. moniliforme, similar to ones like Den. Ise, etc.

Unfortunately, without tags these hybrids are impossible to ID, as there are many with very similar ancestry and even within the same cross you'll see a fair amount of diversity. Just follow general 'nobile-type' hybrid culture and they ought to grow and bloom well for you.

Thanks guys! That'll give me a little more of an idea when looking for specifics on care. I was a little disappointed that they didn't come with a tag... I would have figured that flowers from a flower show would of had vendors that gave a litte more info on care specifics (it came with a sheet of paper that basically said... Dendrobium care sheet - water once a week, keep in indirect sun, give rest period (shock period) of one month after 8-10 months of usual care)... Thank goodness for orchid board! Lol
