"The potting media should be granitic rocks, and the pot should only be a tiny bit larger than the plant itself. Large enough to give the plant enough space for 1 season's worth of new growth. Any larger, and the plants may rot out, due to an improper balance of air to water.

They grow very bright. In the wild, they're often growing in full sun. But before you blast this guy with full sun, try growing it a bit shadier first, and slowly work your way to brighter locations to see how well it can tolerate the brightness of the sun. Give the plant at least 1 week in each corresponding level of brightness before moving it to a brighter location."

I think you probably have all dendrobiums and your most important task may be repotting them. the above advice is excellent but you should research the proper dendrobium potting mix for your area in australia and there should be plenty as oz is currently denro heaven.

Thank you all for your input ! That gives me something to go on, I really didn't have much idea what they were at all.

I have many more to bring home from dad's shade-houses, I just grabbed these ones on the weekend as they were flowering. I have no doubt there will be many more to be identified over the coming months as they bloom.

Cheers,
Dave

Agreed. I was thinking blumenschienii or endsfeldzii. THis is something in the section parviflorae not the section esalqueanae.

Apologies, my taxonomy is old. I'm still working on Withner because that was the cutting edge when I dropped out of the orchid world.

As an aside, is anyone aware of a current monograph of the redefined genus Cattleya for my reference library?

(even if I do think it's an asinine pile of taxonomic crapola(I think ruiz and pavon makes more sense))

I don't think #1 is L. gloedeniana; the form of the pseudobulbs is "wrong" imho; the pbulbs are relatively stubby with an elongated very rigid leaf; also, the flowers are very tiny when compared to the rest of the plant; my initial thought was L. flava; the color of the flower, the size of it and the ruffled lip all are about correct...
Just my 2 cents,
Adam

The first looks like Laelia milleri and the others looks like nobile/parishii dendrobium hybrids as for the tiny flower dendrobium I don't know what it is.

Good Luck on your search.
