Default is this a red Spider?

So I saw a really awesome orchid at the store yesterday and I just had to have it. From what I can tell it's a red Spider? The put it was in was like extremely small so yesterday I went and got some orchid mix and repotted it into a bigger orchid style pot. It was in a 4 inch plastic pot. All the roots looked very healthy but we're extremely clumped up and the pot was filled almost entirely with roots. What I would like to know is what is a good orchid fertilizer to use? And if I am taking good care of it so far? I have it on the desk in my room ,which stays warm and humid because of my fish tank, next to a West facing Window with the blinds mostly closed so the light is filtered.

It is a Brassia hybrid, for example Miltassia, if this is what you're asking for.

This does look similar to Milatassia Shelob 'Red Spider'. But most clones of this are similar. It's a really nice flower. Sadly mine didn't survive winter

It is definitely a Miltassia type hybrid, but there are quite a few different hybrids of this general type. Narrowing down the identification to one particular cultivar or cross just isn't possible. They are all fairly easy to grow and need the same conditions.

It sounds like you're treating it right. Just make sure it gets almost dry before you water again, especially since it is freshly repotted in a larger pot. You describe the blinds as 'mostly closed'. Depending on how long the window gets direct sunlight and how far it is from the window you may find you can gradually open the blinds a bit more.

Despite what some may say, most orchids are not picky about the fertilizer you use, and none need to be fertilized heavily. Any water soluble fertilizer with micronutrients, intended for potted plants, is fine. Use it at half strength or less a couple times a month. and repot annually, and your plant will get all the nutrients it needs.

You have a healthy plant there. It should be easy to keep it that way.

Looks like Miltassia Shelob to me, as well - can be hard to differentiate between cultivars often times

Looks like Bratonia Shelob to get the current right name…

I don't know of a good source to discriminate this family of hybrids…

Name change? I wonder what the reasoning behind that was ... both Miltassia and Bratonia seem to be just a contraction of Miltonia and Brassia, but in reverse order. But I guess Bratonia better identifies the one parent as Miltonia rather than Miltoniopsis ...
