Purple Fragrant Dendrobium Female
Default Purple Fragrant Dendrobium

Some while ago, I bought this dendrobium at an exposition to discover afterwards that there is nowhere on the internet or in books a reference to it's specific name : Den Hamareka 'Howard's Dream'. I looked at the producer's website but didn't find any dendrobium ressembling mine altough I'm surprised because this producer usually has the right name for his orchids. Can anybody recognise it as something else?

It is almost impossible to ID a hybrid orchid. I can tell you this, it is a nobile type hybrid and it requires a dry winter rest to bloom.

Dendrobium nobile Hamareka Dream

getting an error when I try to go to the RHS orchid registry, to see if it's registered ...

Lady,
I know VERY little about these, this is what I found doing a search, others might be able to tell if this is close.

There is a Dendrobium Hamakita, it has the parents Den. Shinonome x Den. Sagimusume.

Hope this helps.

Warren

It looks very pretty. And the fragrance is the cherry on top. What more could you wish for?

First of all : Thank you every one for your help!
I tried to translate the pages, the google just won't give it to me
Last time I searched it, there wasn't any pictures of it, but seeing as the new pictures look a lot like mine and have about the same name, I think it may be a very new cross and that's why I couldn't find anything helpful on how to grow it. Altough I regoogled it today and found this one : Dendrobium Dream 'Ace' which is very similar (but doesn't need a dry periode and flowers twice a year) I will continue searching on this to see if the 2 crosses have the same parents, if someone with OrchidWiz would like to help, feel free to
RHS doesn't want me to access it, so I have to wait. For now, I guess I'll stick to a dry periode but I'll be on the lookout for a second flowering this year.

PS: As for Dendrobium Hamakita, I couldn't find a close picture of it (nor for the cross).

The RHS site has Dendrobium Hamakita which is Shinonome x Sagimusume. If you googleimage, it sure looks like yours.
RE: misspelled names on "official" printed tags, lawdy, I could give you some frightening examples from my own plants; I like the RHS site because you can do a fuzzy search, and get hits from just a few letters.
