Default What type of oncidium is this??

Hi - First time poster-long time watcher! I received a plant as a gift without a tag (gasp) and would like to figure out what it is. I think it is in the oncidium family, possibly a Wilsonara. Can anyone recommend were/how I can identify it? What are the numbers on tags? There is a number on the pot (103) but I'm not sure what that means. Is that a grower, arbitrarialy assigned number or does it mean something cosmic (like ID)? Thanks - Dan

please introduce yourself in the Welcome thread. Your chid is gorgeous, love the color of the bloom, are the tips white or light yellow? Not well versed in the oncidium alliances, but am sure one of our members will add their imput.

Well hello - thanks for the welcome. I am trying to figure out how to shrink the bloom pic - too large for posting. Bloom is solid mahogany with yellow tips. The labellium appears to be more "cut" or slimmer than an oncidium but has the same small (~1") dia. bloom, kinda indicating a wilsonara. Will post a bloom pic when I fugure it out. Thanks for the help - Dan

I agree its probably a Wilsonara (I have a couple that have the same shape) but as to which one, I haven't a clue.

Hi all - Thanks for the support. If I don't figure out what this is, I think I'll call it Wilsonara 'Gloria's Candy Corn'. Still haven't found a good place to research - I don't know where I am going - it's as simple as that! Dan
