Default ID help

Here is one for you folks who are good at id'ing without a photo of the bloom. No one has been able to help me yet. I've heard possibly an oncidium, except its flower stalk grows terminally from the pseudobulb, not from the bottom.
Some also said maybe a prosotheaca <sp?>? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm thinking Cattleya from the way the spike is emerging.

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

I'm going more with a Broughtonia or Encyclia (and segregate genera) outlook on that one... Cattleya have elongated bulbs, while this one is tightly clustered and bulbous.

How can you know for sure what the mystery plant is without seeing the flower?
Get it to flower, then have it Id'd

Could it be a 'Mule ear' Oncidium?

So many different ideas. And only one is correct... It is really better to wait for flowers.
