Vanda species
I got this HUGE guy at the orchid swap this weekend (how can you pass up a $5 special) and the tag is faded.
I know it is terete leafed. I did the moisture test on the roots to see if they turned colors and some roots turned green/yellow, but the newer ones at the top turned dark purple/maroon at the tips.
Any ideas?

What are you able to make out from the tag?

Have you tried to look at the tag in different light conditions? and look thru? take a sharpie and write over what letters are still semi visible?
google initials that you can read?
look at a list of Vanda species and see if there are a few letters that coincide with a specie name?
are you sure it is a specie not a hybrid?

The tag is faded white. I hear that a blue light might bring out what was there before.
One of the OS members who helped bring it in said the person who donated said it was a species. I'm going to ask at the next meeting for sure. I just thought someone might know so I don't have to wait.

I'm going to hazard a guess. This is a total shot in the dark...
There aren't very many Vanda species that look like that.
So here's my guess:
Vanda lilacina

I googled a lot of pictures of that Vanda and mine seems to be more pronounced terete leafed...a really tight V shape almost tubular.
Just for giggles, if it is not a V species, what other species would you guess? Just curious.

I think your best bet to ID'ing this one is to wait for it to bloom.

My suggestion is that its not listed under Vanda. I think it will be a Papilionanthe. Being terete, most vandas & some aerides have been place there.
The only way to know what it is, is to flower it.

I'm thinking that it is more semi-terete after reading and looking at a lot of pictures.
It is really fleshy though...

Looking at the pic again, your right, it is a "semi terete" which basically removes it from the species list.
Now we are into the 1000's of possibilities.
