Please help me identify this Dendrobium.

Hello everyone. I just had this Dendrobium bloom and I am not sure what species it is because when I got it, it was a rescue from Lowes with no information for it. Hopefully someone can help me out. Thank you so much.

It is possible costa farms - i got a few of those for a dollar. looks similar to Salaya candy but not exactly

Yes it does look similar. I think it looks cooler though. Ha! Yeah I have several variations, however, they have not bloomed yet. Thanks for the reply.

wonder if they could help you.

how long ago did you get it? what month? was it blooming or just bloomed?how was the condition of canes/ roots? did a new cane bloom or just an old one

I purchased it after it had bloomed. I actually already sent an e-mail to Costa Farms to see if they could identify it if it's one of theirs. When I got it, I had to treat it with some Physan because the roots were looking pretty rough, I had to amputate some rotting leaves too. I believe it was the middle of July when I got it. The cane had the beginnings of tiny bloom buds and grew out quite large then bloomed. I was pretty surprised that it did since it really needed some TLC.

I did some research and even though it is not yet registered with the AOS I think it may originate in Thailand, probably seeded in the DR.

Most likely it is a Dendrobium lowesii but it could be also a Den. costafarmensis. Although some may regard it at the same species...
anyway it is a great bloom and I would just enjoy and not worry. How much did you pay for it? most likely less than some cut flowers at Publix.

What orchids do they have on sale at Lowes / HD down there in florida? if you see some Vanda / Catt alliances for a couple of bucks maybe you could grab one or 2 for meand I would pay shipping and trade something!
Here they do not have so much on sale!

It's not a Dendrobium species but a hybrid (I would guess a Den. phal type hybrid, since that is typically what Lowe's sells). Lowe's (at least here in NY) doesn't usually offer any species orchids (although I have seen baggy Rhyncostylis gigantea and Den. aggregatum). Without a tag you can never id hybrids 100%, but you can probably give Den. phal hybrid type care and it will do well. Good luck!

anyway must be some hybrid from thailand - wonder if they hybridize what they have already...
the only way to know if someone has the same or if they respond... But I doubt they really care - their tags suggest "low Light" and "high light" for phalaenopsis - how can it be possible?

I just checked my E-mail and they wrote back to me telling me that they don't keep track of the genus or species of the orchids that they cultivate.
