general ID help(only has leaves)

hi, my first post here. a couple of years ago, my wife bought a very young orchid on ebay, and it has never spiked. We have no clue as to what kind of orchid it is so I was wondering if someone could give me a general id of this plant so I'll have an idea on how to care of it.

Welcome to the OB! Looks like cattleya alliance to me. I'm sure a cattleya 'expert ' will be able to help you especially if you describe your growing conditions & where you live? You may not have flowers yet but your plant looks healthy! so your doing OK! Cattleyas like lots of light 55/65FT or 2000-3000 candles. Good luck & keep us posted!

here are some basic info regarding the growing condition:
Location in NYC, 30th Floor south facing window that gets intense direct sun light from 2pm-5pm(average). Plants is sitting by the window not receiving direct sun light, I think it's not getting enough light.

this plant is currently sharing a condensation tray with a couple of "recovering" Phals rescued from the trash room(that would be another thread), and a couple of Paphs newly acquired from our local IKEA store(the only ones with blooms.

Looks like it's getting enough light to me, it's light green in color. Seedlings shouldn't be grown as bright as adults should.

Don't be surprised if it takes you up to 5 yrs to see this plant bloom.

a little update. This orchid was repotted with proper cattleya potting mix(medium sized coconut husks). And now there's new visible root growth seen from above the potting mix. The leave on this plant seems to grow sideways rather than upwards, wonder if that's a species specific thing?

My guess is that it's just growing toward the light. They're going to do that if they're in a windowsill. Gradually introduce this guy to more light (in relation to the recovering Phal). If it's a gradual change they can take lots of light, and Cats like lots of light.
