Question Anyone Know What Type of Phal?

I bought this Phal at WalMart just before Mother's Day since it was blooming. There wasn't any identifier tag. Anyone know the name?

I also suspect I'm not giving it enough light, but I'm in a major learning curve. Am I right?

The exposed roots look bad and plan to repot (just received new clear pots). When I trim them, do I douse them with peroxide or cinnamon?

Any help will be appreciated...thanks!

You will never know what the true name is. There are hundreds of crosses that look very simular. Repotting is always a good idea when you don't really know whats under the surface. Although from what I can see in the pictures, they look very healthy. If the roots that are hanging out of the pot start to shrivel it indicates to me that it needs more water. I hope this helps

Please don't trim any roots that are firm - only mushy decaying ones, or dried out dead ones. You can use drug store type hydrogen peroxide tho if you are only trimming dead roots its really not necessary imo. Some people use original Listerine (the brown one, store brand is good too), pour into a spray bottle and spray. Keep cinammon powder away from healthy roots as it dries them up. Cinammon is good on cuts tho so long as you dont get it on healthy roots, so I just stay away from roots altogether with it lol.
The aerial root on the right looks ok - the one on the left may be dead - I'm not sure. If its dried up you can cut it off
Your plant looks quite well - but as flhiker said - its always a good idea to repot. It looks like yours is potted in bark ? If so - you are probably safe to wait until the plant has finished blooming. If potted in packed moss I like to repot immediately as in my hands that is a certain death for the plant lol.

If you have any questions, please ask - everyone here is very friendly and eager to help

Could it also be caused by low humidity? When it would need more water, wouldn't leaves also show lack of hydration?

Your plants looks good to me and it has a beautiful flower!

That's Phalaenopsis hoozeywhatsis. It's so rare that there may be only one - and you have it!

Well, I feel vindicated. The exposed roots were that way when I bought it. I did a bit of trimming, but only the absolutely dead parts, again, when I bought it, but hesitated to do any more. It's been blooming for 2 mos. These blooms are the last.

Yes, it's potted in bark, so will wait to repot until the blooms are gone.

You're all great...thanks for the help.

This looks exactly like the one I got for my Mom at Walmart in Amherst NH - right down to the pot. There was no label so I am calling it simply Phal. Fabulous NOID 'Mom's Day 2009'
