Default Home Depot Noid Phal-any ideas??

I couldn't resist buying this phal at Home Depot, even though I swore I wouldn't buy another noid.. And never again at Home Depot. But when I saw, please tell me if I am wrong, TWO brand new spikes, I couldn't resist. The third spike is blooming. And I'm down to only a few orchids in actual bloom(Can't have that ,can I??) I also bought a second noid pink phal with two spikes that are well on their way to blooming. It was quite cold in the store, but I figured I could kill both of them and still take them back with a receipt.

I'm quite good at justification of my orchid purchases.

Here goes, do you think it is two new spikes

The label just says Phal hybrid, any ideas folks??
Thanks for looking. You can't see in this photo, but the back of the flowers have a pale pink tinge, quite pretty.

At first glance they look like roots to me. I could be wrong. Its best to assume they are spikes until proven innocent. Nice phal!!!!
Good Luck!!!

Yeah, Tin. My guess is this is a new root. Actually, Linnie, you should be glad it's a root and not another shoot. Only rarely does any Phal pump out shoots like that. And when there are multiple spikes, I believe they come mostly at the same time. Now, I have a hybrid (Tin knows the one) that goes against most advice by sending out new spikes when the old ones haven't quite quit. But that is exceptional in Phals. Phals usually send a spike following completion of development of a new leaf.

Ahhh.. shucks.. I thought that was quite a find to have two spikes coming out. But it is still pretty and quite healthy.

I only have one Phal and I thought those little nubs looked a lot like my one spike which is now about 6 inches.

Oh well.. There is so much to learn, it is never dull with orchids.

thanks,

what is a noid? I buy at big box stores only when they look healthy and are unusual. Often no tag on them., but i still enjoy

noid = no i.d.
I too get tagless orchids if I like them - no shame in that
