Default what kind of dendrobium am I?

hi all,
I just joined after finding this great site. Our collection of orchids is ever slowly increasing.

We have an orchid that has flowers which looked very much like a dendrobium. It's getting pretty crowded in it's little pot so we wanted to know.

-- when is the best time to divide and repot?
-- what is it we're growing?

I've attached a photo. I have a photo of when it was flowering but I left it at home. Can post later though.

Thanks!

Hi, welcome! It's a dendrobium, what kind? We'll have to see the flowers. Best time to repot is after it blooms and before new growth appears.

not sure what kind of dendrobium. I'm just guessing it is after we saw the flowers. I'll post a photo of the flowers tomorrow.

I think we just missed the divide time :-( It finished flowering and is already putting out new growth.

It appears to be a nobile-type Dendrobium.

It's actually best to repot an orchid just as new growth appears.

It seems pretty happy where it is. Most Dendrobiums prefer to be in a pot that's smaller than the plant.

here's 2 photos of the flowers.
Do these photos make it easier to ID the orchid?

It could be a Dendrobium hybrid of the nobile kind. Unless you know this is a species for sure, it most likely is a hybrid. If it's a hybrid, I don't know the cultivar name.

I meant to say, it's definitely a Dendrobium of the nobile kind.

What I'm not sure of is if it's a species or a hybrid. It's most likely a hybrid though.
