Identify these phals? - Orchid Board

Can anyone tell me what these two phals are? Are they the same, or different? One of them seems to have a lot more yellow in the center, and the blooms are a lot smaller. I'm sure they are both very common, but I can't seem to identify them from pictures I've seen online. Thanks!

This is my first phal - it has the smaller blooms, and is only white and yellow.

This is my new phal. It's blooms are much larger, and have less yellow than the other plant, as well as some red inside.

Without a tag, I don't think anyone can ID it. It would be only speculation. There are too many phal hybrids crosses to ever pinpoint the exact name(s).
I just noticed that it's in a plastic pot inside a decorative pot. Is that the plastic pot it came in? Sometimes, not always, the name is etched in the top part of the plastic. Worth looking up close to see, anyway.

By the way, they are both gorgeous phals!

They are most definately NOT the same - both very nice however. As Kiki has noted, there are a huge number of hybrid phals out in the market - especially whites - unless you can obtain the cross from the grower it is impossible. The good news is they are still gorgeous and can be admired just the same! Enjoy!

My friend at work. (The one that got me hooked on orchids!)
Has this same Phal on her desk. The tag says "Sweetheart Phal's"
I got the same phal for a gift, only mine is bigger.

Sweetheart Phal's isn't a registered name .. many growers place tags in orchids that are generic ..
If you notice in this google search - Sweetheart (type) Phal is a name given to a number of unidentified hybrids - site:www.orchids.com Phalaenopsis Sweetheart - Google Image Search

Don't be sad. If it has no name, you can name it yourself. Find the thread on "Even NOIDs deserve names". It's terrific.

Possible names for your nameless phals:
Just because 'Sweetheart' isn't a registered name, doesn't mean that you can't use it yourself anyway.

Phal, white NoID, 'Sweetheart' for the larger one
" " " 'Little Sweetie" for the smaller one

or anything else that appeals to you. Use your imagination.

Even NoIDS need names.

The term NOID is used on orchids that have NO IDentification or come without a name tag ..

There is a Phalaenopsis registered as Sweetheart but I don't think it's yours .. as your tag read Sweetheart Phal's and not Phalaenopsis Sweetheart .. unless an orchid is tagged with a registered name is it near impossible to match it to another that 'looks' like it and assume that it has the same lineage .. as grex(or hybrid) names are registered with the RHS (Royal Horticulture Society), some registered names go back for many generations with many hybrids and species orchids in their lineage .. I hadn't realized this until I started looking up hybrid lineages and found some can go back 12 generations involving over 100 hybrid and/or species orchids.
